I originally set out to import an R34 Skyline, but after struggling to find one that both JDM Connect and I were happy with, we shifted focus to an R32—We found a 1989 R32 type M from Japan. What I didn’t expect was how complex the import process could become, especially with the added challenges around older vehicles. Even though it’s a late ‘80s car, there are still strict requirements, including asbestos compliance and testing, which can quickly turn into a stressful process if you’re not prepared.

Both JDM Connect and I had to navigate the realities of importing an older vehicle, including the asbestos regulations and testing requirements, but they kept me informed every step of the way and handled the process professionally. Their knowledge of the system and persistence in pushing things forward really stood out.
